Week 17 2020 picks

Last week: 10-6 Season record: 149-91 It's fucking Week 17 already.  Believe it or not, the current football season has been longer in weeks than baseball's season, including playoffs, in 2020.  Not that you give a shit about that right now, but it's a worthless fun fact to not impress your friends with.  Now, let's get to what we came here for.   Atlanta at Tampa Bay --Tampa has clinched a playoff spot and is more or less locked in to a 5 or 6 seed.  You have to believe they want the 5-seed in order to travel to Washington, New York or Dallas in order to play a possible 6-10 division winner.  Bucs 27, Falcons 23 Dallas at NY Giants --Oh how I wish my Giants could beat their annoying division rivals at home with everything on the line, but they just don't have the offensive firepower at all right now.  And their D is starting to tire out after averaging 36 minutes per game over the last three.  Yikes.  Cowboys 24, Giants 13 NY Jets at Ne...

Week 16 2020 picks

Last week: 12-4 Season record: 139-85 Is it really Week 16 already?  I'm frankly amazed that all four major sports have been able to put some semblance of a season together, but particularly the NFL.  These guys are out there breathing and spitting and jumping into piles of bodies for three hours, not counting practices.  Sure, games have been postponed and moved and players have opted out or have had to sit after testing positive.  But the games are on track to all be played (knocks wood).  So let's pick them..... Minnesota at New Orleans --Wow, the Vikings have to be infuriating their fans.  They have arguably the best running back in the NFL, two of the freakishly best receivers in the game, and a better than average QB.  It's their usual solid D that has given up the third worst point total in the NFC that has them floundering and on the outside looking in for a playoff berth.  And they get a road game with the Saints on Christmas Day.  Y...

Week 15 2020 picks

Last week: 10-6 Season record: 128-81 Last night, a blind squirrel found an acorn.  Not only did I pick the TNF game correctly, I picked the exact final score of Chargers 30, Raiders 27 .  Now let's see if I can keep those good vibes going..... Buffalo at Denver --Are you all as excited as me that a team not named the Patriots is going to win the AFC East?  Much of the NFL's balance of power changed when Brady moved to Florida.  Oh and Josh Allen is a monster.  Bills 23, Broncos 20 Carolina at Green Bay --The Panthers are a completely different (not in a good way) team without Christian McCaffrey.  Packers 34, Panthers 20 San Francisco at Dallas --It's safe to say the NFC will have a different Super Bowl representative this year.  Cowboys 20, Niners 16 Seattle at Washington --As good as I was feeling about my Giants, last weekend was a reality check.  The WFC got Chase Young, and we didn't and their defense can shut down any team. The only questio...

Week 15 TNF pick

Last week: 10-6 Season record: 127-81 Here is tonight's pick, and I will make the remainder of these tomorrow since we have two Saturday games this weekend too! LA Chargers at Las Vegas --Another year, another occasion to never know how to get a read on the AFC West beyond KC.  The future is bright in Los Angeles with Justin Herbert.  That kid has quite an arm, and he's just starting to figure out how to use it in the NFL.  The Raiders started strong but have been such a mess lately that they needed a minor miracle to beat the Jets two weeks ago.  This is all to say I have no idea about this game, but...... Chargers 30, Raiders 27

Week 14 2020 picks

Last week: 7-8  Season record: 117-75 I think we have 16 games on the schedule in Week 14 for the first time since like Week 3.  And so far nothing has been postponed to a Wednesday to be named later due to Covid.  So let's get to it..... New England at LA Rams --I am guessing the Patriots stayed in LA after walloping the Chargers on Sunday.  They get to play in the same building four days later but this opponent will be a bit more of a challenge.  Rams 21, Patriots 18 Minnesota at Tampa Bay --I keep seeing the Vikings being ranked way higher on the power rankings than the eye test might believe.  My eyes see supreme mediocrity.  Bucs 27, Vikings 23 Arizona at NY Giants --Damn, how the tables have turned.  I have been afraid to pick the Giants but after they manhandled Seattle in a building Seattle almost never loses in, I'm not going to be afraid any more.  Giants 20, Cards 17 Kansas City at Miami --I've got a weird feeling about this one, b...

Week 13 2020 picks

Last week: 11-5 Season total: 110-67 Things are getting more interesting and more strange with each passing week due to COVID and injuries and upsets and shockers and, well, the NFL season's weirdness has mirrored 2020's.  So let's pick some games! Cleveland at Tennessee --Two teams that are 8-3 and yet still the Browns are not being taken seriously.  Also Derrick Henry is heating up in the cold weather just as defenders are less inclined to want to tackle him.  Titans 24, Browns 17 Las Vegas at NY Jets --Jon Gruden's Raiders have been one of the most volatile teams as far as trying to predict them week to week.  The Jets meanwhile are consistent in that they suck all the time, which takes a true commitment to ineptitude.  Raiders 23, Jets 13 Jacksonville at Minnesota --Mike Glennon is starting again for Jax, even with Porn Stache Minshew healthy.  I think maybe the tank is on.  Vikings 26, Jags 10 Cincinnati at Miami --Skyline chili vs. the Cuban sand...
