Week 8 2021 picks

Last week: 6-7 Season record: 65-42 There were some weird results last week, and some absolute blowouts.  In short, there were very few compelling matchups.  Week 8 is more of the same turd soup, except for maybe tonight's Cards-Packers....a potential NFC title game preview.  I'd also like to remind everyone that the midpoint of the season won't be until after Week 9 this year.  I'd also like to remind everyone that 9-8, 4-13, and 16-1 records are gonna be weird to look at.   Green Bay at Arizona --The Packers are 6-1 and the Cards are the only remaining undefeated team at 7-0.  Arizona has proven themselves more than once this season--with road wins against Tennessee, Cleveland and the L.A. Rams.  Now comes another test in the form of the best QB their D has faced so far this season.  Cards 34, Packers 27 Carolina at Atlanta --This one is for all the marbles as far as which team is worse than mediocre in the NFC South.  The Panthers ope...

Week 7 2021 picks

Last week: 8-6 Season record: 59-35 I got a bit cocky last week, thinking I was doing so well with big weeks (11-5, 12-4, and 11-5) the last three.  So I then picked the Bears to beat the Packers and Browns to beat the Cards and a few other stumbles.  Now it's time to focus as we get into the middle part of the NFL schedule, so let's get to it! Denver at Cleveland --Former Bronco Case Keenum will now face one of his former teams, which isn't a stretch considering this dude changed teams every year between 2015 and 2020.  That has to be some kind of NFL record, right?  Anyway the Browns have kept him around for a second year so we'll see if that was a smart decision as he starts for Baker Mayfield.  Oh and Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt are both out.  Good luck Case.  Broncos 20, Browns 16 Washington at Green Bay --I know Aaron Rodgers is one of the faces of the sport, but I don't understand why he didn't get called for taunting last week in Chicago.  ...

Week 6 2021 picks

Last week: 11-5 Season record 51-29 Now we're cooking with gas.  No, literally my wife and I picked up three propane tanks last weekend and I'll be grilling up until the deck is covered in snow.  But I digress.  The NFL slate has not disappointed this season, well except for the Giants, Jets and Jags and the hype leading up to Brady vs. Pats.  But the games have been riveting with some insane quarterback play, playmakers making plays and kickers being kickers.  Anyway I will stop digressing and give you the picks you came here for..... Tampa Bay at Philadelphia --This Giants fan wants to see Brady feast on Eagle defenders tonight.  I'd also like to see JPP, Suh and Vita Vea feast on Jalen Hurts.  Bucs 31, Eagles 20 Miami at Jacksonville --Two teams with a combined record of 1-9.  I think I'd prefer to watch CSPAN.  Jags 22, Dolphins 20 Green Bay at Chicago --The Bears always seem to overachieve or underachieve from game to game, and are madde...

Week 5 2021 picks

Last week: 12-4 (oh yeah!) Season record: 40-24 We don't typically toot our own horn, but 12-4 feels pretty good.  I think the balance of power in the NFL is taking shape as a quarter-ish of the season is done.  We say "ish" because of course we've got a 17 game season that NO ONE ASKED FOR.  It's gonna take a few years before we get used to records like 12-5, 9-8 or, if you're the Jaguars, 0-17.  Anyway, on to the picks..... LA Rams at Seattle --Suddenly the mighty Rams don't look as mighty after getting the shit kicked out of them AT HOME by their little brother, Kyler Murray's Cardinals.  And while the Hawks now have a pulse, the Rams are wide awake.  Rams 27, Seahawks 25 NY Jets vs. Atlanta at London --Oh yeah, the London games are back, and true to form we give the other side of the pond this gift of two shitty teams.  But hey, there is nothing wrong with games that start at 8:30am where I live!  Jets 20, Falcons 17 Green Bay at Cincinnati --...
