Week 8 2020 picks

Season record: 63-43 Here we go into Week 8...... Pittsburgh at Baltimore --This is the game I always associate with pain.  The pain of watching two physical teams beat the shit out of each other in a close game and war of attrition.  Or maybe it's the pain of having to watch a game that will inevitably wind up 16-13.  Well, that was 5 years ago maybe.  These two still have great defenses, and the Steelers' D might be better this year.  Big Ben has carried Pittsburgh to an undefeated start, while the Ravens have one blemish--they lost to the reigning champion Chiefs.  Anyway, until the Steelers lose one, I'm not picking against them.  Steelers 27, Ravens 25 LA Rams at Miami --Is this the game Tua makes his debut?  Does anyone feel bad for the Beard?  Oh and Rams, where the hell has Cooper Kupp been besides rotting from the inside on my fantasy team?  Rams 20, Dolphins 17 NY Jets at Kansas City --In my pick 'em league, they show the perce...

Week 8 TNF pick

Last week: 7-7 Season record: 63-42 Incredibly, we're almost halfway through the NFL regular season, in one of the weirdest sports years ever in one of the weirdest years ever, period.  Anyway let's just get to it.... Atlanta at Carolina-- Depending on how long Tom Brady decides to play, these two teams and  are going to feel like the Jets, Dolphins and Bills did for 18 years.  That it's the Bucs dominating the NFC South for a couple of years.  But hey, there is a game to be played tonight, and I feel like the Panthers are going to bounce back from losing two in a row.  Panthers 24, Falcons 21

Week 7 2020 picks

Season record: 57-35 Week 7 is here, and it started with the Giants positively blowing a game they had in the W column.  I'm happy I got my pick right, but as a fan of Big Blue it's just getting old watching them snatch defeat from the jaws of victory year after year.  I think we are paying a cosmic price for the Tyree and Manningham catches from Eli Manning or something.  But I digress.  Since my team already played, I can watch 6-7 hours of Red Zone tomorrow.  Oh yeah, bring it on.  BTW it was good to hear that Andrew Siciliano will be back at the Red Zone helm tomorrow.  Dan Hellie did fine but you don't notice how good something is until it's not there--and that was surely the case with Andrew.  Welcome back! Pittsburgh at Tennessee --There are three teams that are undefeated and two of them are playing in this one.  It's hard to say if this will be high scoring or low scoring but I do think overall that I trust the Steelers just a bit m...

Week 7 TNF pick

Last week: 6-8  Season record: 56-35 Damn, what a horrible week for picks (and probably a lot of other things, but....).  This has been a tricky season but I don't like to be under .500.  So let's make up for it this week, shall we?   NY Giants at Philadelphia --So my Giants put themselves in the win column last week.  And here we have them at 1-5 vs. the 1-4-1 Eagles.  Dallas leads the division at 2-4 but they are floundering without Dak.  So this game is literally being billed as a game between contenders in the NFC East.  I'm kind of speechless about that.  But back to the game itself--so yeah, the Giants have at times looked decent, especially on defense.  The Eagles have looked awful, but have also at times looked decent despite a slew of injuries.  But here is what it comes down to--the Eagles are the Giants' kryptonite.  I think in the last 15 or so matchups going back 7-8 years, the G-men have won once and it was w...

Week 6 2020 picks

Last week: 9-4 Season record: 50-27 This season is weird.....so weird.  This year is so weird.  Oh hey, here are your picks under the wire again! Denver at New England--Cam is back.  Patriots 27, Broncos 13 Houston at Tennessee--I'd be wearing a mask in every inch of that facility including on the field as a player.  Titans 28, Texans 17 Cleveland at Pittsburgh--I've seen enough of Big Ben this season already (and that insane Pitt defense) to know it'd be foolish to pick against them.  Steelers 31, Browns 23 Baltimore at Philadelphia--These teams are in second place in their respective divisions, at 4-1 and 1-3-1.  Respectively.  Ravens 33, Eagles 26 Washington at NY Giants--I hate the fact Chase Young is on their team and not mine.  WFC 24, NY Giants 13 Atlanta at Minnesota--The Vikings are not this bad are they?  Vikings 23, Falcons 20 Detroit at Jacksonville--Minshew will mince you.  Ugg that was bad.  Jags 28, Lions 25 Cincinnat...

Week 5 2020 picks

Season record: 41-23 Hey all.....I've had an interesting couple of days.  Suffice to say the picks will be made though.....but with no commentary this week..... Carolina at Atlanta--Falcons 24, Panthers 23 Cincinnati at Baltimore--Ravens 30, Bengals 17 Jacksonville at Houston--that coach Bill O'Brien they fired is kind of a douche so good for them.  oh wait that was commentary.  Texans 23, Jags 20 Las Vegas at Kansas City--Chiefs 38, Raiders and Jon Gruden's hair line 20 Arizona at NY Jets--Wait, Joe Flacco?  Cardinals 23, Jets 16 Philadelphia at Pittsburgh--Steelers 28, Eagles 17 LA Rams at Washington--Rams 27, WFC 13 Miami at San Francisco--Niners 20, Dolphins 19 Indianapolis at Cleveland--Browns 31, Colts 24 NY Giants at Dallas--oh lord, Skip Bayless picked the Giants to win and Kurt Warner said Daniel Jones will throw for 5 TDs.  Ha.  Cowboys 30, Giants 13 Minnesota at Seattle--Russell Wilson is the MVP, at least so far--Seahawks 34, Vikings 20 LA ...

Week 5 TNF pick

Last week: 10-5 Season record: 41-22 Where did that week just go?  Is it really the start of Week 5 tonight?  It is, and it's an intriguing match up.... Tampa Bay at Chicago --This is a throwback to the days when these two teams shared a division, the NFC Central.  Now they are geographically aligned and in very different circumstances.  Nick Foles has returned to being Nick Foles in a Bears uniform, and Tom Brady has taken over the reins in Tampa to make that team a contender right away.  Both teams are 3-1 but I feel like the Bucs are the more legit 3-1, if only because the Bears beat the horrendous G-men in Week 2.  Bucs 27, Bears 25

Week 4 2020 picks

Last night: 1-0 Season record: 32-17 Okay, here we go....minus two games due to Titans players and staff testing positive for COVID, and now Cam Newton of the Patriots on the COVID list.  Let's hope it isn't too widespread, but of course we have to always remember that life is bigger than sports.  Titans/Steelers is being moved to Week 7, and Patriots/Chiefs will also be moved to either Monday, Tuesday, or later in the season.   And now to the picks.... Arizona at Carolina --I realize the Panthers won last week without Christian McCaffrey, but it's hard to see that being sustainable.  Kyler Murray comes to town Sunday and this might be a very lopsided game.  Cardinals 34, Panthers 17 Baltimore at Washington --The battle of BWI, or something.  Lamar is going to bounce back from a disappointing Monday night against KC.  Ravens 31, Football Team 14 LA Chargers @ Tampa Bay --On paper these two teams have solid defenses.  They also have a future H...

Week 4 TNF pick

Two weeks ago: 14-2 Last week: 8-8 Season record: 31-17 Okay, so I had double pneumonia for two weeks.  I tried to make my picks last Saturday but my brain was too foggy to think about each game let alone pick a winner and write a blurb for each one.  And so, I'm picking up here after a 14-2 week 2 showing; and also I'm giving myself an 8-8 for last week since that was the result of my picks straight up in my pick 'em league.  So let's get to it with the pick for tonight's game: Denver at NY Jets --Once again, the curators of the NFL schedule have laid a Thursday night egg.  We went from the exciting kickoff to the season in Week 1 of KC vs. Houston, followed by an exciting battle of Ohio in Week 2.  Then last week, it was a not-very-exciting battle of Florida.  And for Week 4, we have this gem between two 0-3 teams.  The Broncos at least have some exciting players such as Melvin Gordon, Jerry Jeudy and Noah Fant, even if they keep having to rotate the...
