Week 8 picks

Last week: 8-6 Season record: 75-31-2 So when the hell did it get to be Week 8?  We waited like 7 months for kickoff and the season is literally almost half over.  Oh well, that's why we have to enjoy it while it lasts.  Let's make some picks..... Philadelphia vs. Jacksonville at London --I think this is the last one in London for the year.  I believve there is a Mexico City game and then Roger Goodell plans to next year have a game in Antarctica.  Now that's a game I'd watch.  Eagles 34, Jags 16 Baltimore at Carolina --Oh wait, I forgot to make a Philly horseshit joke.  Ah, I guess I'll let it slide this time.  And by slide, I mean slide out of a horse's a---okay, that's enough.  Panthers 23, Ravens 20 NY Jets at Chicago --Wow, the Bears were looking like they might have a shot at the division, and then they remembered they were the Bears.  Bears 21, Jets 17 Tampa Bay at Cincinnati --I'm way more happy than I should be about t...

Week 8 TNF pick

Last week: 8-6 Season record: 74-31-2 Miami at Houston --I don't know if this will be a defensive struggle or if the Texans will light up the scoreboard.  They are home, and sort of on a roll, so...... Texans 22, Dolphins 20

Week 7 picks

Last week: 14-1 Season record: 66-26-2 This is why I try not to pat myself on the back.  I went 14-1 last week, and 26-4 the past two weeks combined.  And then last night I picked the Cardinals to upset Denver.  I was watching that score and I think it was 28-3 a minute into the second quarter.  Remember Josh Rosen saying his mission was to make sure every team that passed on him in the draft felt sorry?  Yeah, not really....at least not yet.  Here are the rest of the picks.... Tennessee vs. LA Chargers at London --Oh goodie, we've reached that point in the season where there are London games every week for a while.  At least this one is on in that sweet 8:30am CT spot so I can wake up, have coffee and turn on the game.  That said, this is one of those matchups that about five people are looking forward to, and none of them are me.  Chargers 27, Titans 12 New England at Chicago --I wonder how many times we will see Mike Ditka and the F...

Week 7: Thursday Night Football pick

Last week: 14-1 Season record: 66-25-2 Denver at Arizona --I wonder if the Broncos saw highlights of Brock Osweiler looking like Aaron Rodgers last week in Miami.  All I want tonight, and maybe I'll get it, is for my RB1 David Johnson to do David Johnson things for a change, instead of doing Trent Richardson things.  Cards 20, Broncos 16

Week 6 picks

Last week: 12-3 Season record: 53-24-2 I looked at the slate this week and I am terrified.  Not because of who the Giants are playing, they already lost in embarrassing fashion so I won't have any agita today, at least not the kind brought on by watching my team find new ways to choke.  But the slate of games this week are all games that could easily go against my picks.  So hang on, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.... Indianapolis at NY Jets --When I see this matchup, I still picture Joe Namath and his index finger run into the tunnel because of that same B-roll all the stations have.  I bet we see that at least once today.  Jets 20, Colts 16 Pittsburgh at Cincinnati- -The Bengals sure are setting us up for winning the division and flaming out spectacularly in the wild card round.  Steelers 30, Bengals 27 LA Chargers at Cleveland --Oof.  I so wanna keep picking the Browns, because they have doubled their win total of the past two seasons combined a...

Week 6 Thursday Night Football pick

Last week: 12-3 Season record: 52-24-2 So I had another kickass week, but then looked at the week 6 slate and let's just say the games this weekend are going to be really hard to figure.  Anyway, let's kick things off with some TNF! Philadelphia at NY Giants --Ugg.  As my buddies from New York would say, "I got AGITA"....the Giants have found new ways to break our hearts.  They almost never blow anyone out or get blown out.  They often are in every game until the 4th quarter, when something inexplicable happens--horrible penalty (or like last week, phantom penalties!), bad luck, or poor execution.  But last week they did manage to lose a game just like they did vs. the Eagles--on a last second 60+ yard field goal.  Graham Gano kicked one 63 yards, tying an NFL record for longest game-winning field goal.  Last year it was ROOKIE Jake Elliot of the Eagles with a 61-yarder.  Seriously, are we really still dealing with karmic retribution for Scott...

Week 5 picks

Last week: 11-4 Season record: 41-21-2 So here we go into the second quarter of the NFL season.  We've all had a chance to feel things out and try to get a handle on how this season will ultimately go, but part of the beauty of sports is that you never know what can happen.  So let's do this! Tennessee at Buffalo --The Titans have a very stingy defense.  The Bills, if you take away that 27-6 mega upset of Minnesota, are averaging under 8 points per game in their three losses.  Whatever the over/under is, take the under (that's not actual gambling advice, so don't come looking for me if you bet money on that and lose).  Titans 13, Bills 9 NY Giants at Carolina --I'm a Giants fan and while I didn't expect a complete turnaround, I didn't expect the same shit as last year and the year before, with maybe a slightly better run game and punter.  They can't contain a good mobile QB like Cam, so I expect more of the same garbage.  Panthers 27, Giants 17 ...

Week 5 Thursday night football pick

Last week: 11-4 Season record: 40-21-2 Things are getting mighty interesting in the NFL.  It's a bit of an up is down and down is up season, and a quarter of the way in, there are not many trends to make this prediction business easy.  But that's how we like it, amirite??  Indianapolis at New England --I correctly pointed out that after the Pats were embarrassed in Detroit, that they would take it out on the Dolphins, who were 3-0 going in to last Sunday.  It usually takes an early loss in the Patriots' season for Belichick to go apeshit on his team and straighten them out.  To be fair, I don't know if he did that or had Brady do it for him.  Pats 33, Colts 17
