Week 12 2020 picks

Last week: 9-5 Season record: 99-62 Here we are, folks.  It's Thanksgiving week and with that, three games on the slate for tomorrow, and 13 more on Sunday and Monday.  Which means no bye weeks, but there are two for next week--Carolina and Tampa.  Not that I expect you to need that information, but if it comes up at the dinner table, you will look like an NFL expert.  You're welcome.  Now on to the picks.... Houston at Detroit --I really have no idea what to make of the Lions, but I do feel like Matt Patricia should file for unemployment soon, if only as a stopgap until Belichick brings him back.  Lions 19, Texans 17 WFC at Dallas --You may think this is an awful matchup of 3-7 teams, and yeah it is.  But it's also a game that will determine who steps into the NFC East lead.  I'm not ruling out the possibility of a tie, which would make for a most hilarious three way tie between these two teams and the Eagles, at least until Sunday.  Cowboys...

Week 11 2020 picks

Last week: 9-5 Season record: 90-57 I would like to mention that my G-men beat the Eagles last Sunday for the first time in four years.  It was glorious, and not only made watching the six(!) late games way more enjoyable, it made watching highlights more enjoyable.  It's going to make the bye week more enjoyable, and make the Thanksgiving games more enjoyable.  That's how much it means to us Giants fans to beat those pesky Eagles.  But it's more than that.....the G-men are 3-7 which is awful.  but they started 0-5 and 1-7, and now sit right behind the 3-5-1 Eagles in the NFC East.  But enough of my gloating, there are games to pick! Arizona at Seattle --These are two teams that seem to always make games exciting in the fourth quarter, and this is a rare Thursday nighter with major playoff implications.  Seahawks 30, Cards 27 Cincinnati at Washington --On paper this seems like a very evenly matched game, but I think rookie Joe Burrow will struggle agai...

Week 10 2020 picks

Last week: 10-4 Season record: 81-53 Off to a rip-roaring start!  The Colts upset the Titans last night and I swear this has been the weirdest season in some time.  I know that's the case for the world in general, but these games are tricky to predict.  But that's what we're here for, so here we go..... Philadelphia at NY Giants --Fun fact: if the Giants win this game, they will be a half-game out of first place with a 3-7 record.  Damn.  However, another fun fact is that the Giants cannot beat the Eagles, like ever.  Eagles 21, Giants 17 Jacksonville at Green Bay --Um, yikes.  Packers 34, Jags 7 Washington at Detroit --Alex Smith playing QB after that gruesome injury two years ago makes me mighty nervous, so I can only imagine how his wife and kids feel.  Lions 28, WFC 24 Houston at Cleveland --Is it just me or do the Browns seem to play all of their games at home?  Browns 22, Texans 17 Tampa Bay at Carolina --The Bucs destroyed the Packers ...

Week 10 TNF pick

Last week: 10-4 Season record: 81-52 This strange year continues as the only sports going are the NFL, NCAA football, and golf?  Yes, the Masters began today after getting postponed in April.  And COVID is as widespread and deadly now as it was back in the spring, so who knows how long we'll go before every sport shuts down again.  Meanwhile, there is a game tonight..... Indianapolis at Tennessee --This might look like a lopsided contest, but believe it or not it's for first place in the division.  The Titans are 6-2 and Colts 5-3, and the way the season has gone, I would not be surprised if it was a blowout by either team.  But as the season wears on, you can't really pick against Derrick Henry.  Titans 27, Colts 23

Week 9 2020 picks

Season record: 72-48 Now, if only the election will be decided by Sunday..... Denver at Atlanta --I guess we know where Andrew Catalon and James Lofton are going to be on Sunday.  Falcons 20, Broncos 19 Seattle at Buffalo --Okay, so this game is fascinating.  The Seahawks are not as lethal on the road, but they are still maybe the best team in the NFC.  The Bills are almost surely going to win the AFC East and be hosting a wild card game in January (unless there is a playoff bubble).  Get your popcorn ready.  Bills 31, Seahawks 30 Baltimore at Indianapolis --The team that stole a franchise from Cleveland at the team that stole a franchise from Baltimore.  Ravens 31, Colts 28 Houston at Jacksonville --I guess we know where Spero Dedes and Adam Archuleta will be on Sunday.  (I don't know why I'm picking on these broadcast teams....I have nothing against them personally, but I do feel bad for them that they have to call games between shitty teams every we...

Week 9 TNF pick

Last week: 8-6 Season record: 71-48 We actually have a decent matchup for Thursday Night Football, which is itself a good diversion from the vote counting and collective breath-holding of a nation.... Green Bay at San Francisco --Then again, I just looked at the injury report for the 49ers.  Yikes, that's a lot of talent not suiting up.  Packers 35, Niners 14
