Week 6 picks
Last week: 12-3
Season record: 53-24-2
I looked at the slate this week and I am terrified. Not because of who the Giants are playing, they already lost in embarrassing fashion so I won't have any agita today, at least not the kind brought on by watching my team find new ways to choke. But the slate of games this week are all games that could easily go against my picks. So hang on, it's gonna be a bumpy ride....
Indianapolis at NY Jets--When I see this matchup, I still picture Joe Namath and his index finger run into the tunnel because of that same B-roll all the stations have. I bet we see that at least once today. Jets 20, Colts 16
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati--The Bengals sure are setting us up for winning the division and flaming out spectacularly in the wild card round. Steelers 30, Bengals 27
LA Chargers at Cleveland--Oof. I so wanna keep picking the Browns, because they have doubled their win total of the past two seasons combined and actually look like a football team. But they are due for their newest kicker to mess things up at the buzzer. Chargers 21, Browns 20
Buffalo at Houston--I still can't get over the Bills punking the Vikings in Minnesota. And they also beat a pretty good Titans team. Who are these guys who still make me afraid to pick them? Texans 24, Bills 19
Chicago at Miami--Have these two teams not played against each other since the 80s? Because I've seen that footage all week of when they were both powerhouses (and I think both undefeated)....with Dan Marino and Jim McMahon. All that's missing is Huey Lewis playing in the background. Dolphins 19, Bears 17
Arizona at Minnesota--I think I went to this game last time the Cards were in Minneapolis at the old Metrodome before the roof collapsed. Brett Favre actually set a personal record in that game with 446 passing yards and led the Vikings to an impressive come-from-behind basically miracle win. And I still can't believe that dude hasn't unretired yet. Vikings 27, Cards 10
Tampa Bay at Atlanta--Wait, the Falcons are 1-4? No way am I gonna let them challenge my Giants for the #1 pick. Falcons 31, Bucs 27
Seattle vs. Oakland at London--I wonder if ol' Chuckie went sightseeing in London and made reference to them naming Big Ben after the Pittsburgh QB. Seahawks 24, Raiders 17
Carolina at Washington--Two teams that are pretty impossible to figure out. Skins 28, Panthers 24
LA Rams at Denver--The Seahawks proved they can hang with the Rams last week. The Broncos, not so much. Oh but it is snowing there? That's okay, Todd Gurley will still shred right through it. Rams 31, Broncos 20
Jacksonville at Dallas--Upset alert. Dallas is 2-0 in the Jerrydome, and through the Jags becoming a contender I still have trouble trusting Blake Bortles. Cowboys 17, Jags 16
Baltimore at Tennessee--The game this week most likely to put me to sleep. I almost wanna pick a tie. Titans 23, Ravens 20
Kansas City at New England--Oh, a tasty matchup indeed. But wait, the Red Sox are playing at the same time in the ALCS. It's gonna be one of those games where people in the crowd cheer randomly while nothing is happening in the football game. Pats 27, Chiefs 24
San Francisco at Green Bay--Seriously, who does the Monday night schedule? Oh wait, the same thing is going to happen here with the Brewers in the NLCS and the crowd cheering randomly. Packers 34, Niners 17
