Divisional round picks
Last week: 5-1
Season record: 161-117-1
Last weekend, we were treated to two great games and four blowouts. I welcomed the addition of a 7-seed in each conference, but I am re-thinking my stance on that. Two extra games on wild card weekend when those games are not even remotely competitive kind of blows. Especially when I can't just switch over to Red Zone. But okay. Now comes what I think is the best football weekend of the year--the truly Elite 8 of the NFL. Let's fucking go!
Cincinnati at Tennessee--Hypothetically, if the Bengals win, will the NFL put this game in a new Saturday afternoon time slot for the AFC championship game? It'll just feel downright weird watching a Bengals Sunday playoff game. Oh, Derrick Henry makes his return, and what I've seen of Mike Vrabel's Titans even without Henry leads me to believe that Joe Burrow's Bengals will not be playing next weekend. Titans 30, Bengals 27
San Francisco at Green Bay--It's gonna be single digits tomorrow night at Lambeau and there is no way in hell that favors the visiting team, no matter who that visiting team is. That being said, the Niners come in with some good momentum, winning in Week 18 vs. the Rams and then upsetting the Cowboys last Sunday. But without Joey Bosa and Fred Warner, and with a shaky Jimmy G, the 1-seed should easily prevail. Packers 27, Niners 20
LA Rams at Tampa Bay--The Rams thoroughly embarrassed Kyler Murray and the Cardinals on Monday night while the Bucs tossed the Eagles into the 2021 season trash heap. Will this be a good game? Probably. Both teams have solid defenses, but only one of them has Tom Brady. Bucs 31, Rams 26
Buffalo at Kansas City--The game of the weekend is the dessert Sunday night. I am fired up for this one, a rematch of last year's AFC title game. Both teams put on an offensive show last week, putting up 47 and 42 points, respectively. The Bills had the ball eight times and the only time they didn't score a touchdown was when they were in victory formation at the end of the game. The Chiefs started slow against TJ Watt's Steelers, then woke up after Watt recovered a fumble and ran it in to go up 7-0. Then Patrick Mahomes reeled off three TD passes in 10 minutes and the game was over. On Sunday night it's hard to imagine it won't be track meet. I can't wait. Bills 35, Chiefs 34
