Week 14 picks

Last week: 8-6
Season record: 110-84-1

We are already in Week 14, but the good news is that we're still seeing weird upsets and so the parity if off the charts. It's hard to figure who will be the 1 through 7 seeds, much less the 9 through 14 seeds that could still be in it mathematically.  And I'm here for it.  I mean, with no one team dominating (though you could make that argument for the Patriots and Bucs now), things are up in the air and that's great for the sport.  But enough of that.  Let's get to it!

Pittsburgh at Minnesota--A rematch of Super Bowl 9 for those of you keeping score.  Vikings 26, Steelers 23

Baltimore at Cleveland--I heard a pundit talking about how the Ravens are 8-4 but could easily be 2-10, they've been lucky and have had timely success this season.  I know that is an overreaction but I also believe in the Bill Parcells "you are what your record is" and I think the Ravens are better than the Browns this season.  Ravens 23, Browns 17

(oh, shameless self promotion of my band's song "Uncle Artie" about Art Modell moving the Browns to Baltimore in the middle of the night 26 years ago).

Jacksonville at Tennessee--How soon does Derrick Henry come back?  The Titans have cratered a bit the last three games and in addition to Henry, they have a crazy amount of injuries.  Will that cost them a home game against Jacksonville?  I highly doubt it.  Titans 24, Jags 14

Las Vegas at Kansas City--KC's defense is suddenly a thing.  In the last four games they have given up 7, 14, 9 and 9 points.  The 7 was Green Bay and one of the 9's was Dallas.  Whoa.  Chiefs 27, Raiders 17

New Orleans at NY Jets--No truth to the rumor that Harry Connick Jr. is starting at QB for the Saints.  Jets 20, Saints 19

Dallas at Washington--I'm sure most folks will pick Dallas for this one, but I am not most folks.  The WFT has won four straight and are looking downright respectable, even without Chase Young.  WFT 30, Cowboys 27

Atlanta at Carolina--I have no idea what to make of either of these teams.  Panthers 24, Falcons 20

Seattle at Houston--The Texans have definitely reached the phone-it-in portion of their schedule, if they haven't been like that the entire season.  Seahawks 22, Texans 16

Detroit at Denver--The Lions finally broke through for Dan Campbell last weekend, and it was extremely fun to watch Jared Goff lead his team to victory as time was running out.  The question now is can they build on that and lose out on the top draft pick.  Broncos 21, Lions 10

NY Giants at LA Chargers--I'm hearing that Mike Glennon will start again for the Giants, which is terrible news if you are like me and just want to catch lightning in a bottle with Jake Fromm.  Yes, times are bad if you are a fan of Big Blue.  Chargers 31, Giants 7

San Francisco at Cincinnati--Another Super Bowl rematch, and a two-time Super Bowl at that.  Actually this is one of the best games of the week.  Bengals 23, Niners 22

Buffalo at Tampa Bay--This was looking like a great game until the Bills lost 4 of their last 7 games.  Their offense has become unpredictable.  Meanwhile, Tampa is rounding into form with January (and February) right around the corner.  Bucs 30, Bills 21

Chicago at Green Bay--This is the first game Aaron Rodgers is playing against a team whose fans were told by Aaron Rodgers that he "still owns them".....and, well, he does.  Packers 35, Bears 14

LA Rams at Arizona--Monday Night Football gets this one right after a thrilling and windy Bills/Pats game.  I'm just thankful Joe Buck doesn't work for ESPN.  Cards 30, Rams 28
