Week 1 TNF pick

hey everyone....welcome to a new season in a weird, shitty year with a lot of question marks.  At the time of the NFL draft, I wondered aloud how they were going to actually play football in 2020 with a pandemic raging.  Other sports have resumed playing in restricted conditions with revised rules, and with no fans in attendance.  Baseball has had hiccups but has stayed committed and the NHL and NBA have resumed in "bubbles" with almost zero cases of covid.  But other sports are not football, a contact sport with sweat and spit flying freely around.  

And so, while I'm skeptical that the NFL season will go on from tonight and into February, and I fear for the health and safety of the players, coaches and refs, I will still happily watch the games.  Welcome back, NFL.  

And now with no preseason and me not having read much of anything NFL-related, I come into Week 1 with very little feel for how the games will shake out.  So, you may not want to use these picks as the basis for bets of any kind.   

Houston at Kansas City--You may remember the last time these teams met in KC, in the divisional round of the playoffs this past January.  The Texans jumped out to a 24-0 lead after one quarter.  Could this really be happening?  Could even the high powered Chiefs offense overcome being down by three and a half touchdowns?  Yes, yes they could....going on a 51-7 run the last three quarters and then riding that to a Super Bowl title.  It's a new season, but there is no reason the Chiefs will not be awesome again and the Texans will be saddled with an 0-1 start after drawing the champs as their first game of the season.  Chiefs 38, Texans 24

Divisional Round picks

Last week: 4-2 Season record: 85-39-1 Many people, including yours truly, consider this the best weekend in football.  We've weeded out the lesser playoff teams, and while there are only four games, the matchups feature the best teams in the NFL.  This is when some really good teams go home, and when four teams will be one win from the Super Bowl.  Yeah I know I'm stating the obvious, but I'm just really giddy--not because of the quality of the games, but because my New York Football Giants are still standing.  I did not pick them to win last week but was thrilled that they did.  Now they look to upset the 1-seed Eagles, which is very unlikely but after watching last week, not completely out of the question.  So you're saying there's a chance?  Yes I am.  Let's get to it...... Week 17 picks

Last week: 12-4 Season record: 69-34-1 Things are getting interesting and exciting and, in some ways, absolutely riveting.  This is when the NFL is must-see TV, vying for playoff berths and positioning.  And at the moment, there are so many teams that are still alive for the postseason, it's even more intriguing.  So let's go.....
