Wild card weekend picks
Last week: 12-4
Season record: 171-83-2
So the long (not really) and winding (not really) regular season is now in the books (really). Which means we have 11 games left in the NFL season before seven months of gloom. But before that, we have the best part of the schedule to get through, starting with wild card weekend! Here are the picks.....
Indianapolis at Houston--We are inevitably always treated to a game involving one (or in this case two) AFC South teams on the Saturday afternoon postseason kickoff game. That should tell you what the NFL thinks of the teams in that division, no? So I know Houston is favored and almost everyone will pick them to win, but if you haven't seen the resurgence of Andrew Luck the past two months, you will witness it again tomorrow. Colts 24, Texans 23
Seattle at Dallas--All I can think of with this game is that time in which Tony Romo was the holder and fumbled a snap for a game winning field goal, and the Seahawks won 21-20. You'll see at that link that it is considered one of the biggest chokes in sports history. Ouch. Of course, the Cowboys have continued to mostly flounder in postseason games since--or more accurately, since 1996. But not this time. Cowboys 21, Seahawks 13
LA Chargers at Baltimore--The Ravens have been positively dominant in the second half, aside from almost losing at home to the Browns and being out of the playoffs last Sunday. Thankfully this spares us from the Steelers being there again (the Steelers and Pats have the two most entitled fan bases, maybe in all of sports). Baltimore won this matchup in LA a few weeks ago very convincingly, and I see no reason there won't be a repeat of that. Ravens 20, Chargers 17
Philadelphia at Chicago--Here we go again. The Eagles have once again been revived by their backup QB, Nick Foles, and have returned to dominance again. I thought there was no way in hell they would beat the Rams in LA two weeks ago, but they did. And thanks to another choke job by the Vikings last week, here we are with the defending champs in the tournament. I feel bad for the Bears and their fans, because this feel-good season is going to feel like shit Sunday night. I don't want this to happen, but I feel like the Eagles are going back to the Super Bowl again. Ugg. Eagles 22, Bears 20
