Championship round picks
Last week: 3-1
Postseason record: 6-2
Season record: 177-85-2
For the most part, we've been treated to some really quality match ups in the postseason so far. But aside from Eagles/Bears and Eagles/Saints, there haven't been any edge-of-your-seat finishes. Some of these games have been over before halftime, and nobody wants to see that this time of year, except of course fans of the winning teams. As a Giants fan, I can say that I'm never not nervous, even with a 5-touchdown lead.
But hopefully tomorrow's games will be nail-biters and have some fantastic finishes, because that is what most of us want to see. And with the four top seeds all still playing tomorrow, it's hard to imagine both games not being great. So with that, let's pick these games!
LA Rams at New Orleans--The Superdome is a very loud place, which is going to make things tough for Rams' QB Jared Goff. And with the Saints being a stout run stuffing team, you know they are going to hone in on Todd Gurley and dare Goff to beat them. With the noise and enough pressure, they can do that. On the other hand, the Rams kind of let Dallas drive up and down the field a bit too easily last Saturday, and if their defense looks like that again, Drew Brees will positively shred them. So while I want Sean McVay's Rams to get to the big dance, I just don't see that happening. Saints 41, Rams 34
New England at Kansas City--It's gonna be chilly tomorrow in KC, but no snow is in the forecast. Last week the Chiefs dispatched the Colts with relative ease, their defense looking like someone replaced their players with those of the Ravens or Bears. They will need to look that good again facing the Belichick/Brady brain trust, who will no doubt have a plan no one has seen before. After what the Pats did to the Chargers, you can imagine they may slow the vaunted Chiefs' O down, but the Chiefs have more firepower, and the Pats are less threatening on the road. So while it's never smart to pick against New England this time of year, we just may see a changing of the guard. Chiefs 37, Pats 35
