Week 10 picks

Last week: 8-5
Season record: 95-39-2

Dammit.  The season is getting good, but we're already over the season's hump and barreling toward the playoffs, and then seven months of darkness.  I know if the season was more like six months long it would be less enjoyable, but sometimes it'd be nice to feel like the football calendar has slowed down, just a bit.  Anyway, on to the picks, but first let me point out that my season record doesn't exactly suck..it's actually a 70.8% correct rate.  But I'm not getting cocky because what goes up tends to come down.  So with that, let's go.....

Detroit at Chicago--I am probably among a few people who underestimated the Bears.  But they improved a lot just by shedding head coach John Fox.  I'll never forget when Fox was coaching the Broncos, and he had like 35 seconds left in the 4th quarter in a tie game and Peyton Manning calling signals, against the Ravens.  You have one of the greatest QBs ever and can quickly drive into field goal range and move on to the next round.  Not Fox.  He called a kneel down in order to not risk an interception or fumble.  There is conservative, and there is stupid.  Anyway, the Bears are better off with young Matt Nagy now.  Bears 31, Lions 24

New Orleans at Cincinnati--This is one of those games that will confound pickers.  Because you wanna take the Saints based on the fact they just beat the previously unbeaten Rams.  And the Bengals are really hard to figure out.  So I'm inclined to go with the Bengals.  But I won't.  Saints 38, Bengals 27

Atlanta at Cleveland--Getting back to the subject of conservative coaches.  I'm a big fan of the fake punt and fake field goal, and my Giants NEVER use them.  I'd say we tried maybe one fake punt in the past 15 years.  Punting sucks, and so does not going for it on 4th down and not going for 2 every time.  Browns 22, Falcons 21

Jacksonville at Indianapolis--How does a team with so much promise at the start of the year nose dive like the Jags have?  Suddenly we are not hearing those "Tom Coughlin is a genius" hot takes anymore.  Colts 27, Jags 20

Arizona at Kansas City--Note to self--before picking a guy like David Johnson with the third overall pick in my fantasy draft, think better of it and instead pick someone who plays for a team that SCORES SOME FUCKING POINTS ONCE IN A WHILE.  Chiefs 42, Cards 10

Buffalo at NY Jets--So this one will feature Matt Barkley and Josh McCown.  I bet even Andrew Siciliano would rather neither of these teams get to the red zone because it'll be field goals all day.  Jets 12, Bills 9

Washington at Tampa Bay--Does anyone else get the feeling the Skins are 5-3 on their way to 6-10?  Bucs 28, Skins 26

New England at Tennessee--Here's another former Patriot coaching against the team he played for.  One of these days Gronk is gonna be wearing a headset and a hoodie and will literally scare the shit out of his players just by being Gronk.  Patriots 20, Titans 17

LA Chargers at Oakland--Oof, these late games all kind of suck, but what else is new?  Chargers 34, Raiders 10

Miami at Green Bay--I've been meaning to start a blog called "everyday annoyances" but haven't gotten around to it.  So I'll post one here.  You know those sprayers in the produce aisle of grocery stores?  My god those things are worthless because they soak everything down to the point where it's falling apart, water logged and just plain gross.  And it sprays every time I reach for something.  Packers 27, Dolphins 22

Seattle at LA Rams--Now that the '72 Dolphins have popped their champagne corks, the Rams can go back to annihilating the rest of the league.  Rams 37, Seahawks 24

Dallas at Philadelphia--This is when the Eagles start to pass the other pretenders by in the NFC East.  Eagles 31, Cowboys 24

NY Giants at San Francisco--Well done NFL schedulers or Monday Night Football producers or whoever plans these fantastic matchups of shitty teams in mid-season.  The Eli Manning being yanked meter is starting to run, so keep an eye on that once the Niners jump out to a big lead and Eli can't sniff the end zone.....again.  Niners 23, Giants 9
