Week 3 picks
Last week: 11-5
Last night: 0-1
Season record: 21-11
So while I had the fact that the game last night would be close, I must eat crow not only that I picked it wrong, but that it wound up being a great game. The Rams could wind up being interesting this season. They already are at 2-1. Now on to the rest of the games....
Baltimore vs. Jacksonville at London--The whole London thing has gone from annoying novelty to semi-regular series to what will likely be an every week occurrence at some point. You know it's going there. Yet, now that they started having the games locally in the evening, giving us an NFL game here in Wisconsin at 8:30am and making football truly an all-day event...well, suddenly it doesn't suck as much. For the players and coaches, that's a different story, but they do make more money than me. Ravens 19, Jags 13
Cleveland at Indianapolis--Barring a tie, one of these teams will get their first win of the season. I know the Browns are the Browns, but the Colts are bent on getting their coach fired, and this might be the last straw. Browns 24, Colts 20
NY Giants at Philadelphia--You know that little shoulder/neck twitch thing Eli Manning does right after throwing a pick or fumbling or throwing left-handed and/or like a girl? We might see that six or seven times on Sunday. Eagles 27, Giants 6
Miami at NY Jets--You know that thing Jay Cutler does when he throws the ball to the other team? Nah nevermind, I can't pick the Jets just yet. Dolphins 20, Jets 14
Denver at Buffalo--Denver's D is looking fierce again, and their O was humming too last weekend. But this is their first road test. Bills 23, Broncos 20
New Orleans at Carolina--Lost amid many story lines early on is that the Panthers have allowed just 6 points through 2 games. Panthers 31, Saints 20
Pittsburgh at Chicago--Two great football cities, one great football team. Sometimes you just have to know what's coming. Steelers 27, Bears 13
Atlanta at Detroit--Quietly one of the best games of the week, very likely some high flying offense. And if Detroit somehow pulls it off, they will be taken very seriously. A very big if, however. Falcons 41, Lions 38
Tampa Bay at Minnesota--I'm kind of afraid to ask who is playing QB for the Vikings this week with Sam Bradford out. I'd also be afraid to piss off Mike Zimmer. Bucs 21, Vikings 14
Houston at New England--At 1-1, these are two very evenly matched teams. hahahahahaahhaha. Okay, I will really feel like a dolt if this winds up being an upset. Patriots 29, Texans 12
Seattle at Tennessee--Boy, the late games on Sunday are looking kind of bland. But if you like defense, this one has a shot at being the best of the three. Titans 16, Seahawks 14
Cincinnati at Green Bay--What is the league gonna do when Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady retire? I know the two franchises will win a few less games, and we will have to focus on the up and comers like Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota. Oh who am I kidding? Brady will be slinging it at 50 and Rodgers at at least 40. Packers 30, Bengals 20
Kansas City at LA Chargers--Has anyone noticed that the Chargers are in Los Angeles? I mean, besides people in San Diego? And don't look now, but if the Rams keep looking good, they will become the Dodgers to the Chargers' Angels--and Melvin Gordon is no Mike Trout. Chiefs 24, Chargers 23
Oakland at Washington--Has anyone noticed that the Raiders are still in Oakland? I don't care where they play if I'm getting fantasy points from Carr, Cooper and Salvatore Maggiano or whatever that kicker's name is. Raiders 28, Redskins 26
Dallas at Arizona--Yes, Denver was a wake-up call for the Cowboys, but you can't blame them for expecting everyone to roll over like my Giants did in Week 1. This could be a test for them, but I don't think I'd want to test that theory as a Cards' fan or player. Cowboys 31, Cards 24
